I booked a car with thrifty through priceline. I paid the asked amount upfront at the time of booking.
The bad experience started when I reached at LA airport to pick up the car. There was long queues and agents were forcing everyone to buy insurance coverage from them even if you have it already. When I declined the agent said you will know if you have to use the insurance.
Then he suggested me to buy prepaid fuel option and told me that I will pay market price for the fuel I will use during the rental period but turned out they charged me for full tank even if I drove 98 miles. When tried to contact their customer support, they told that I accepted this at the time of rental.
I am not going to use their service ever again in future.
Please avoid using them

The overall experience was straightforward from pickup to drop off without any hassles

Booked one car online on middle august , originally 300 eu on website with insurance (not full) . For making the booking 91 euros were taken from my card. The moment of the pick up they said this will he returned the same day.
Insurance had to be added more cause the insurance added online was not even for scratches. I paid in total 456 euro for 5 days of economic car rental.

The pre paid booking never arrived even after of finishing the rental.

Not either the deposit being the cat given in perfect conditions and with almost full insurance covered (higher rent amount paid).

I'm fighting over this money for one month in these dates. They show me stupid paper saying they return the money with their card provider which my bank proof and searched several time with the Mastercard team and nothing is showed.

I am lucky cause all my transactions are insured with Allianz and this money will come back to me sooner or later (most probably later).

But who doesn't have a bank like mine...trust me this money you will completely loose it.

DONT RENT HERE, DONT. I READ SOME COMMENTS BEFORE RENTING BUT STILL DECIDED TO GIVE THEM A CHANCE. WRONG MISTAKE.

14th Sept. Currently on holiday and have a rental car from thrifty with a fault. Because it is still drivable they will only exchange if I drive about 250 miles to Detroit or Chicago. They will not exchange anywhere else in Michigan, Wisconsin or Minnesota. The attitude of their service team is awful, very unhelpful which is a sad reflection of the company.

I rented a vehicle from Thrifty when I flew to Houston TX to see my brother. I drove to his house and did not drive the car again until the morning I was to leave for the airport to fly home. At 7:00 a.m., after I packed the car, I went to start it and the battery was dead. I phoned Thrifty and told them the situation. They told me that they would have someone come to pick up the vehicle at my brother's house. I had to make other arrangements to get to the airport to make my flight. At 4:00 p.m. that afternoon my sister-in-law phoned me and said that the car was still in her driveway. I phoned Thrifty again and they said they would have someone come get the car. The car was towed away at 8:00 p.m. that evening. I contacted thrifty to see if I could get a partial refund for the inconvenience. They said they would let me know in 10 business days. They emailed me and told me that they had no record of my issue, so they declined reimbursement. I'm not sure how they did not have a record of two phone calls. And how did the vehicle get towed back to their facility if they have no record of an issue? To make matters worse, they charged me for an extra two days of rental because I did not return it the day I agreed to! I will NEVER use Thrifty again.

Oregon state law states spouses are covered as authorized drivers by law. Staff in the Oregon Thrifty claimed to first have “never heard” of the law, then said “there’s state law and then there’s company policy and company policy doesn’t authorize spouses unless they pay a fee”. When we asked for this to be put in writing or to record the conversation where they told us we had to pay this illegal charge they declined. Attempts to call head office have led to promises of call backs, they also claim they have no complaints department to speak to.

Absolutely criminal. Have reported to the Oregon department of justice.

I rented a car with thrifty and payed for it in advance which was $218 and they turned around and charged me $211 for insurance... It's like I rented the car twice.... Lesson learned not to rent again

Thrifty at JFK is horrible!!! The people are black but racist!!! There is an older heavyset woman there that hates black women with a passion!!! I paid for a car in full through Priceline and they told me they didn’t have cars available. The guys says yeah you can’t rent the same day. They policies change for whomever they want!! They need higher management to come in and fix this place seriously!! Horrible customer service!!

Thank you Philadelphia airport staff for been professional and high level of customer service.it’s my first time using thrifty after 40 years of travel and it is the best by far from any other rental companies.and also I would like to thank Tiffany and Alia for making my trip in out easy and friendly conversations
